Staff

The executive committee is made up of Sokhan Lao, Sakhon Men, Khim Kong, Sokthun Chhat, and Marie Ens.

Sokhan Lao is Director of the Cambodian Non-Government Organization called Rescue.

Sokhan has been working with in evangelism and compassion ministries with Marie Ens for nearly 12 years. She is a dedicated woman full of compassion who works tirelessly to bring hope and comfort to her fellow Cambodians who are suffering. She is married and has three grown children.

You can read about some of Sokhan and Marie's early adventures in the book A Time for Mercy.

If you are interested in reading that book, you can order it by contacting us.

Sakhon Men is a member of the Executive Committee of Rescue.

Sakhon's main responsibility is to accompany Sokhan in the work she does. The Sokhans, as we often call them, visit needy people who are referred to Rescue in order to assess their needs and decide how Rescue can help them. Sometimes the answer is to bring them to Place of Rescue. Other times they can be helped at home where they live.

Sakhon has been in the Lord's work for a long time having been a woman's work leader and support for her husband who is in charge of Theological Education by Extension in Cambodia. The couple have four grown children.

Khim Kong is a member of the Executive Committee of Rescue.

His gentleness and compassion are evident to all. He is in charge of grounds management at Place of Rescue with a staff of six under his authority. He is an excellent father figure to all the children at Place of Rescue and they all call him "Pa".

Khim and his wife have a little girl of 14 who is the apple of her Daddy's eye.

Sokthon Chhat is a member of the Executive Committee

He is our resident pastor and as such is in charge of spiritual formation of the staff, AIDS patients and children.  He is also the one to grapple with  the day to day problems that arise with the children so he is the one the House Mothers turn to for help.

Sokthun has a wife and two little boys.

Marie Ens is Advisor to Rescue. She helps in decision making and management.

Marie first came to Cambodia with her husband and 2 children in 1961. Later two more children were added to the family who lived in Cambodia for many years until the takeover by the Khmer Rouge forced them to return to Canada. Marie returned to Cambodia as a widow in 1994.

You can read about the Ens' family adventures in Cambodia in the book Journey to Joy.
